| | This is the first time we went to Pella, which is about ninety miles west of Iowa City. Pella is known for historical sights, its Dutch architecture, and of course, the tulips that bloom in spring. Pella Tulip Time was held May 3-5 this year. |

| | We watched the parade this morning as it passed by 9th St in Coralville. In the early evening, we had a potluck picnic at the Kampfe residence in Iowa City. We then went back to Coralville for the late night fireworks at S.T. Morrison Park. |

| | Go Fish is a group of three guys who are committed to creating great music for kids that won't drive parents bonkers, while promoting conservative Christian values through their music. Samples of their songs are available for download in their web site.
The group performed at S.T. Morrison Park in Coralville, Iowa as part of their US concert tour. The venue is just a twenty-minute walk from our apartment, so we placed Benedict in his stroller and met up with friends at the park. |
It's my first ever thanksgiving celebration! Zen and I started the day with a mass at 9:00 A.M. in the Newman Center, Iowa City. We were invited by "Tito Leo" Lim a week earlier to celebrate with them, so we drove seventeen miles north to Swisher, IA. We left Coralville twenty minutes before 2:00 P.M., and we were at the Lim residence by the top of the hour. We had an interesting exchange of life stories with the Lim's while having some snacks. A while later, I was helping them prepare the turkey (my first again) for the early dinner. There were just five of us, but we had so much fun, and our hosts were so hospitable that we didn't notice it was almost 9:00 P.M. We met the Lim couple for the first time during a Filipino-American get-together early this year only, but our celebration seemed to be like a gathering of long lost relatives and was itself a cause for thanksgiving.

| | The celebration this morning started off with a parade representing the different sectors of the community. The Coralville parade passed by 9th Street, less than a block away from our apartment.
At night, a fireworks display was held near the Coralville Recreation Center. The fireworks pictures below were captured using the night scene mode of the digital camera.

| | The summer heat is really on so Zen and I drove to Solon, IA to feel the fresh woodland breeze. Lake Macbride is about twenty miles (20 mi) away from Coralville. |

| | It was a beautiful Spring day. Zen and I rode our bikes and had a mini-picnic at the City Park beside the river in Iowa City. |

| | Zen and I biked Sunday morning along the trails of Coralville. |

| | From Coralville, I rode a bus to the university campus to join Zen in her laboratory. I then sat in Zen's molecular genetics class, the topic of which dealt with phenotypes and pedigrees. We went to a bookstore just across the hospital and bought myself a book. These pictures were taken as we walked to Downtown Iowa City. |
